Major retailers like Walmart, Costco, and Target all specify this size for inbound shipments. If you ship to grocery stores or big-box retailers, the 48x40 is almost certainly required.
These pallets typically have a static load capacity between 2,500 and 4,600 pounds depending on construction quality and grade. Dynamic load capacity, the weight they can support while being moved by a forklift, usually falls between 2,200 and 2,500 pounds. Racking capacity varies widely based on beam span but generally ranges from 1,800 to 2,500 pounds.
